Happy New Year!

Started the year off beautifully. Yesterday morning I watched the first sunrise of the year for about forty-five minutes while listening to Paul Galbraith play Bach on an eight string guitar. What a peaceful, uplifting way to start 2012! It was a beautiful, sunny day and temperatures were in the fifties. Came home from church, had a filling meal of mushroom hamburgers with fried potatoes on the side, and took a nap with my hubby while listening to Pat Robertson teach about the Holy Spirit in The Empowered Believer. Concluded the day with a couple rounds of "Rummy 500" in which I came out the all-time champion of the day!

This year I'm reading through The Everyday Bible, New Century Version. It's the only Bible I have that has my name engraved on it. I got it from my mom when I was fifteen, and pulled it from the shelf recently. I'm so blessed to have been raised by a godly, spirit-filled mother. I remember during my pre-teen and early teenage years she and I would read the Bible aloud in the mornings, using a different version each year. That's a mighty foundation.
"The word is alive and working. It is sharper than a sword sharpened on both sides. It cuts all the way into us, where the soul and spirit are joined. It cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. And God's word judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts." -Hebrews 4:12 (EB)

Here's to a breakout year in 2012!
