Where is your heart?

Psalm 52:6-9 (A Maskil of David)
The righteous will see and fear,
And will laugh at him,
“Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches
And was strong in his desire.”
But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;
I trust in the loving kindness of God forever and ever.
I will give You thanks forever, because you have done it
And I will wait on Your name, for good in the presence of Your godly ones.

Israel's King David was extremely wealthy. See 1 Chronicles 27 & 28. He had so much property, livestock and wealth that he needed 12 men to oversee it all. David wasn’t lacking material wealth and power. Yet he never put his trust in those things.

In his final prayer recorded in 1 Chronicles 29 David says to God, “Who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You. For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were…” Glory to God! David didn’t trust in the great wealth he had. He trusted in God’s loving kindness. That is where I want to be and stay - trusting in God.

My heavenly Father has enough material wealth to amply supply everything I need. I never need to be controlled by finances - their abundance or their scarcity. God has it covered. When I see it in my hands, it’s because He put it there. Thank God! When I don’t see it in my hands, it’s because He’s sending it. Thank God! Hallelujah!!
